Martha’s Vineyard has a secondary passenger access point in Hyannis. It is the prominent recreational boating and commercial fishing port on Cape Cod, second only to Provincetown. Thanks to its massive natural harbor. With a steady breeze and good waves rolling in from Nantucket Sound, Kalmus Beach in Hyannis is a common location for windsurfers. The big beach splits into two parts and keeps swimmers and windsurfers out of each other’s way. Keyes Beach has nice, clean sand and is ideal for families. Fishing and cruise contracts and ships to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard are available from Hyannis Harbor. The John F. Kennedy Museum is nearby, and it explores JFK’s time in Cape Cod (1934-1963). The Cape Cod Railroad, which departs from Hyannis, offers a scenic ride. The two-hour tour takes you through Cape Cod Bay and Canal, the seacoast, salt marshes and cranberry bogs.
